Lead Assembly Technician


Brief Description of Job Duties:

This role is responsible for ensuring production assembly line is actively engaged to meet daily customer demand and production schedule. The Lead Assembly Technician ensures production priorities, safety, and quality standards are maintained at all times. The Lead Assembly Technician will assemble products by using a variety of hand and power tools, fixtures, work instructions and test equipment to perform a series of operations to correctly assemble/test boards and Frequency Systems.
  • Work with supervisor to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedule is met.
  • Execute and coordinate employee to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements.
  • Use basic problem solving skills to ensure stable operation.
  • Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to Production Supervisor.
  • Work closely with support staff such as Assembler, Technicians, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Supervisor, and Materials Control to resolve issues.
  • Observe, maintain, coordinate and complete standard work.
  • Participate as an active member of the production assembly and technician team.
  • Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company’s Quality System.
  • Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.

The applicant MUST have the following qualifications:

  • Must have AA Degree or equivalent military training.
  • 7 – 10 years experience in electrical field testing and troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot analog and digital circuitry down to the component level failure.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English well.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Mechanical Sub-assembly, Electronic assembly, Board level acceptance testing.
  • Perform PWA and System testing per written work instructions; e.g., engineering drawings, assembly procedures, acceptance test procedures, engineering and industry specifications.
  • 3+ years experience in a Lead Position role.
  • Strictly adheres to written work instructions as defined by the applicable engineering drawings, assembly procedures, acceptance test procedures and specifications.
  • Accurately record in-process documentation; e.g., assembly work records and acceptance test data sheets.
  • Must be able to read and understand schematics, technical drawings, datasheets, and written work instructions.
  • Must be able to operate digital volt meters, voltage sources, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Must possess strong troubleshooting skills (to component level), problem solving skills.
  • Must possess excellent soldering skills of surface mount and through-hole components.
  • Must be able to accurately communicate test result in writing.
  • Very good organizational skills to ensure accuracy, neatness and completeness.
  • High attention to detail ensuring product is assembled and tested to meet all quality standards.
  • Very good communication skills to contribute as a team member. Must respect and work well with others.
  • Ability to work efficiently within production time standards to meet production deadlines.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements.
  • Must be able to manually lift/carry equipment up to 35 lbs without a lifting device.

Additional Desirable Experience:

  • Previous Oscillator, GPS testing and troubleshooting experience a plus.
  • Able to troubleshoot PWA failures.
  • Aptitude to train / lead colleagues.
  • ESS thermal temperature cycle & ESS vibration testing experience.
